I recently got my belly button pierced in November. Starting in about February a little red bump appeared on the upper part of the piercing. Since then it has neither grown bigger or smaller, and no pus is coming out of it (yet). Could this be just excess scar tissue or should I be worried that it may be an infection?

It sometimes happens when you change your jewelry. *I changed mine recently, and I got the bump cause I aggrevated the top hole. *I got nervous while changing it and I was pushing out the wrong way.... Anyhooo, I left the new jewelry in so it can heal a bit but then I was getting that little bump. *I kept doing the aftercare, put some EMU oil on it and I just re-changed the jewelry to something a little lighter to put less stress on it and it is definitly clearing up. *The bump is gone now, but for now I'm sticking with the aftercare.
EDIT : *DO NOT USE OR PROMOTE THE USE OF EMU OIL. *IT IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR PIERCINGS AND WILL DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

Sea salt soaks and hot compresses are your best bet!!! It will take time, but do them religiously and your bump will eventually go away!
