I got my navel repierced 6 months ago due to an infection that would not heal. It was repierced December 2005. I was told by the piercer that the second piercing should not reject due to being through scar tissue. However, 6 months later, I am afraid this may be the case, but I am unable to tell. I currently have a 14 Gauge, 1/4" length curved barbell in (not the orginal jewel) and although it is not red, not painful, not pusy, and appears to be mostly healed, when looking at it, I can see what appears to be a faint (very faint) outline of the barbell (I am relatively light skinned). Is this a sign of rejection, or just the normal healing process of the barbell getting settled into a comfortable place? My aftercare for the piercing is diluted original (orange) liquid Dial, or Provon soap, and sea salt soaks at least once a day for 20 minutes.*Thanks!! *

A piercing can ALWAYS reject, scar tissue or not.
Can you see more of the barbell now than when you first had it pierced? Is there a teeny white or reddish line from the original hole to the place it is now?
You may have aggrivated it when you changed the jewelry, it's not uncommon for that to happen (it's what happened with mine).

I have replaced the piercing with a smaller barbell because the other one was getting caught on clothes (I would move, and it would irritate the piercing). The only redness that is on the piercing is behind the top ball and that appears to be from the top ball pressing on the skin (I have changed the ball to a smaller one and it has decreased), but other than that no redness or white marks anywhere. I was under the impression that if it is rejecting it would be painful, and very red, and I have none of that. *
Last night I changed it to a 16 Ga 1/4" barbell and it has also helped decrease movement and with this bar, there is no evidence of it through the skin, so perhaps it was the width of the bar that was a issue. *

Just wanted to give a update on my piercing. *I recently ordered a 16 Ga, 1/4" CBR from Painful Pleasures and within 48 hours of changing it, any redness I had has disappeared. It appears that the CBR has allowed for better healing due to easier cleaning of the piercing. The CBR does not get caught on any clothing (which I feared would happen), and seems to not move as much as the barbell I previously had inserted. *
Thanks for selling such great products!!! * * *
