View Full Version : 1 month limit on inactive posts

We all have discussed this and we feel that it would be more reasonable to have a one month expiration date for all inactive posts rather than our old 2 week rule. The warning system will still apply as it did before for anyone who chooses to bring a post older than 30 days back to life. Thanks everybody, Happy Modding!

This does mean, however, that I will be enforcing this. No second chances.

if u are enforcing the 30 day rule.. y dont u just lock posts that have 30 days of inactivity.. i know it will be a hassle but it will stop them for being jumped to life again and there for ppl just to look at??

...because none of us have the time to go through each individual post and do it. We do have lives outside of this place.

i sure that there would be a phpbb addon code that would set it to close a thread after X days of inactivity?? so you would need to do it yourself... i do understand that u do have lives outside pp... but i was just sujusting it so you dont have to give warnings out to ppl who dont know..

BYOP: Yep, you're right! :-) The rules are there for a reason!
Evoke: The only way that I have found so far to do anything close to that won't just lock it...it moves it to another portion of the board, so all the old threads would be one jumbled mess. That would make me a sad panda...

Just out of curiosity, is there anyway you guys can block the old posts so they CAN'T be replied to? I ask because in the past I have accidentally responded to an old post. I try hard to follow the list rules but what can I say .... we all screw up some times.
I'm not complaining about the rule. Just wondering if there is a way you can help us comply.

evoke asked that earlier.
And no, not without manually going through each post to do it.
