I think you might be overcleaning. Cut back on the sea salt soaks and see how it goes.

I think that you mentioned in another post that you can't change the jewelry for 12 weeks.....
Nipple piercings take 6 months to one year or more to heal. You shouldn't be changing the jewelry until it is fully healed.

i was told that it cud b changed after 12 weeks ... just not all the time ...
i think it depends cos male nipples tend to heal quicker than female ones

Not really. It can still take up to a year. Changing jewelry before a piercing is healed causes damage and sets back your healing.
You might heal quicker than six months, but definitely not in 12 weeks.

Yep, I know. I am just saying that in this case, your piercer is mis-informed. Just because some piercers say that Bactine is great for piercings doesn't make it true. Same with this.
Just trying to give you the right info so that you don't have problems with your piercings.

Also, just a note. Even if a healing period is 4-6weeks or 6-12 months there is no guarantee that you will be healed in that time. Some piercings, like cartilage piercings, can take well over a year, but the general consensus is that they take about a year to fully heal.
Everyone's body is different and each location is different. You're also going to have random events that are going to affect the length of healing, such as bumps to the site and colds that lower your body's ability to heal.

ok. now, the girls are trying to help you and give you good advice. you can take their advice or not, that's your choice. but they're right and your piercer is very wrong. but, look at it from your piercer's point of view. if he told you it would take a year to heal, would you be so willing to jump and get one? noooo, lets tell people it takes 6 weeks, then everyone will want one.
now, it's up to you when you change it. however, the more you change it before it's healed, the more you damage it, the more you prolong the healing, the more scar tissue you cause, the more you risk migration and rejection.
female nipples take 12-24 months to heal, typically.
male nipples take 6-12 months. so yes, it heals faster than female, but most certainly not in 6 weeks.
as for washing, no more than 2 sea salt soaks a day, 1/4 tsp NONIODIZED salt (sea salt or kosher salt, noniodized) in 8 ounces (1 cup) of water.

There's an antimicrobial soap on the market called Satin. It has moistuizing effects on my pierced nips. If I use it often enough they not only stay pretty clean but they get really soft and conditioned. Sadly P.P. doesn't carry it yet.

I used Satin when I got pierced for the first time.
After a while (5 months) it started to irritate my helix piercing and I switched to Dr. Bronner's soaps, which are very good.

satin gave me an allergic reaction. a nightmare on a fresh piercing, let me tell you. especially since my typical allergic reaction to soaps is swelling and BURNING.
