Anniversary #2

It was one year ago Today (3-14) that I woke and was coughing my lil butt off. So hard that my nose was running profusely and my eyes were watering, blinding me. My Chest/Lungs were ON FIRE, I was dry heaving, had a fever and the chills. I went to the ER in St. Augustine where they pumped me full of fluids, anti-biotics and steroids. Late in the day I felt better and Doc came in to tell me the results of all the tests that they had been performing on me through the day.

"You have Pneumonia. We're treating it with steroids and a potent anti-biotic."

"great Doc, how soon can I go home?"

"Well, I need to tell you that the scans and X-Rays also showed that you have a severe case of Emphysema. Three lobes of your lungs are totally worthless, leaving you with just 40% lung function."

"Oh, Just Great!" Now What?

"I want to stabilize you and get the Pneumonia under control and then we'll see just what we're going to have to do, BUT, you will have to be on oxygen and medications for the forseeable future. And your days of printing and working are at an end. You can no longer be around the chemicals, dusts and powders."

"Oh, Just Great!"
--------
So here it is a year later and I'm sick again. I've been in and out of the hospital all week and have to go back Monday.

Oh, Just Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------
The Best is YET to come!

Hope you get better soon. Pneumonia sucks. My mom just got over it herself. And pneumonia in Utah during winter sucks even more.

We are all thinking about ya Mom.

Thinking of you and sending you strength to help you through this.
You are brave and strong to share this with us all Mom -
I hope that any smokers out there reading this just keep on trying to give up until they succeed. It is never to late to quit but every one smoked is another nail in the coffin.
Lost my Mum to emphysema caused by smoking cigarettes.
