Blowout question

Ok, I had my 1/2'' for almost 3 years. It wore mostly threaded tunnels, and the face would slide through my ear alot of times etc..


So one day, a pair of 5/8's eyelets caught my eye in the jewerly order books we get at the shop. So I ordered em up.

Soon as I got em, I just figured they would easily fit in, since the face on the tunnels we're roughly 5/8's. Well no luck couldn't fit the eyelets in.

So I went and ordered up some 5/8's plugs, just so I can leave em in there and let my lobe get all snug with the 5/8's before I cram in the eyelet. Well the went in with no pain what so ever. So I figured everything was peachy, so while I let me ears get used to the 5/8's, I started noticeing my left ear had a lil to much skin sticking out the back. Took the plug and discovered that my lobe had a blowout.

The plug went in effortlessy, there was hardly no pain, and the heal process went very ver quick. Yet one year blows out? It was around a, i'm guessing, 9/16th to a 5/8th stretch. Since my tunnels would pull out easily.

Is there a way to corret this one **** ear lobe, other then surgery? Or would this just slowly go away with time? Should I down gauge?

Any thoughts would be extremely helpful!
