To Whom It May Concern;
Please Excuse Scooter's absences for the past several weeks.
He has been under my care for severe medical incidents ranging from a biopsy on his lung, a collapsed lung and emotional distress.

We have successfully reduced his Medications from this past February
From This.

To This.

a reduction from 10 prescriptions to 6. (see note)

I would have allowed him to return to class earlier but he also suffered the loss of two family members. His Step-Father passed away April 30 in his living room followed by his Mother-in-Law on May 12 at her home.

So Bereavement leave was in order.

I am allowing Scooter to return to Class but on a restricted schedule only. Please see that he takes it easy and doesn't over do.

*For those of you astute enough to count and find that the total bottle count is actually 7, The far right Med is to be taken as needed for ... um ... er ... recreational purposes only. let's call it Vitamin-V for now.*

*cracks up* You and your "Vitamin V". Silly Mom.

Welcome back. We've missed you!

So what all are you still on? (I'm inquisitive!)

Yep Vitamin-V. I just wish I could find someone to share it with. *SMIRK*
It still makes me feel better to just pop one and enjoy the results. Makes me feel better mentally and physically. Hard to explain. Guys will understand.

Left to Right:
Bayer low dose aspirin (80mg)
AdVair Discus (250/50)
Spiriva
Plavix (75mg)
Trazadone (100mg)
Lexapro (20mg)
And the far right Pfizer Specials (100mg). (hooray for pfizer)

I suppose that it really only amounts to 5 needed scripts since the Bayer is OTC.

and how do you like the Mac OS on the DELL monitor? I'm runnin' XP and OSX together on the FrankenMac. and yes that's 4 hard drives mounted on the desktop. 1 Mac drive, 1 PC drive and 2 out of busted TiVo's.

I think the OS on the Dell monitor is cool. Now, if I could get my iMac online, that would be a miracle. I am Mac challenged :(

I only use XP when I a-b-s-o-l-u-t-l-y have to (which thankfully isn't often) and I only use the Mac to connect to the internet.
which iMac do you have? and what OS do you run? eMail me and maybe I can help.
I'm no Unix wiz but I can tinker under the hood.

My Mac is the only computer in our apt. that works on the Internet (we're "borrowing" it...)

Glad you've got the meds down.

Now, I may not be a guy, but I think I get the whole "It's nice to get a hard one" thing. We don't technically have the visual equivalent, but there's some things about my own reactions to stimulation I'd miss dearly.

Welcome back, Mom, I was around when you left, just not posting. Glad that you are back and doing well. With all those pills, do you rattle when you walk ? The forum was different while you were gone, but Miss Birdy kept everyone in line. This is a great bunch of people, I enjoy reading all the posts. You take care, us old folk gotta keep the younguns in line, If that doesn't work we'll turn the over to Miss Birdy

Thanx Almost60,
nope no rattles... yet...
Doc is working with me to reduce me to the bare minimum of meds. He's been great. He's letting me take responsibility for my own care. I research and then we sit down once a month and talk. Pretty much does as I suggest and said last month, that my improvement has even surprized him, and then wanted to know what I was doing to increase my stamina and lung capacity. Said that he had never seen one of his patients improve so much so rapidly. I've gone from 42% lung function to 50% in the past year. He says that in the first year after COPD the normal person declines NOT improves. And 8% to boot, still with only 2 lobes working.

As for My Sweet Succulent Seductive Birdyness. I am proud to have her as a friend I-R-L. She is one smart cookie and very avant guarde. *barefoot to receive her college diploma* Way Cool! On top of being a real comfort to my old eyes. *drool*

Glad to see you posting.

Now scoot, i understand that us young ones are usually quite stubborn and full of ourselfs always being right, but i try to hold myself in a slightly different class than most of my other peers...as most of them are quite immature, and judging by my own perspective and other people noting it, i am usually more mture and 'experienced' than my fellow young people...just saying, lol so when you say that we can be overcome, i do agree but not all of us are so simply put in this world. n.n much love Mom, take care of yourself.

Sorry Vamp,
But as you allude, it's a fairly good rule of thumb. I'm always glad to see the exceptions to the rules. Those are the ones I enjoy being around. Glad to see that you are one of the exceptions.

I was wondering what you were ill with - my aunt is currently undergoing treatment for COPD among other things (multiple sclerosis and a rare blood disorder). Terrible terrible thing.. glad to hear things are improving. :)

I suppose for the n00bs this must be cryptic posts and messages, like some kind of insiders joke.

So for you Chica, and the other new Members here,

I quit smoking on March 11, 2007.
Was diagnosed with Pneumonia and Emphysema on March 14, 2007.
Suffered a Myocardial Infarction (fancy words for Heart Attack) on March 24, 2007.
Found a 1.7cm (5/8 inch) mass in my lung in January, 2008.
Tried to shrink mass with chemicals unsuccessfully in February, 2008
Had the mass biopsied on April 8, 2008.
Had my Right Lung Collapse on April 8, 2008.
The Medical Staff at Flagler hospital in St. Augustine know me on sight at Winn-Dixie and wave when they see me on the street or in a store. Oh For Joy!

to be honest - i'm not really sure of the exact name. i THINK its something along the lines of "factor V leiden"? i dunno, i just know from what the doctor says its the cause of her blood clots. she's frequently hospitalized because of them.
