Ok, so I'm gonna be a plagerist and quote some stuff for you. *BECAUSE IT'S SO BLOODY IDIOTIC! *And this comes from "professionals" mind you. *(both from one site, just their little "stretching guide"...supposed to be a great company, they say they hand make all their own stuff. *what's interesting is that PP carries most of the same things (EXACT same) cheaper)

To perform a sea salt soak, first dissolve 1 teaspoon of sea salt (available at most grocery stores) in 1 cup (8 oz.) of warm (slightly cooler than shower temperature) water

WRONG!!! *Never use more than 1/4 TEASPOON of sea salt, kosher salt or any other non-iodized salt! *And you want the water as warm as you can get it and still be comfortable.

If your ears are healed and you seem to have some funky suff on your jewelry when you take it out, this is most likely dead skin cells. Your entire body sheds dead skin cells as it grows new skin, you just don't see it (guess what a good part of the dust in your house is!). Since there's a signifigant amount of skin touching your plug, those dead skin cells don't have anywhere to go, so they build up on your jewelry. This effect and the smell that goes along with it varies from person to person and from material to material, with metals generally seeming worse than other materials, like organics.

Wow...talk about idiocy and ****iness. *They're so sure of themselves that they don't even bother to get a clue. *No, that white ook that smells funny? *that's SEBUM (http://dermnetnz.org/acne/sebum.html), genious!

You'd be amazed what kind of crap you can find on some body modification websites.

here's another one from a site that is supposed to be a teen's guide to body piercing...

they list as a risk: Damage to nerves (for example, you may lose feeling at the area that gets pierced)

er...no...

They also seem to think that a navel piercing takes twice as long to heal as nipples.

Gauge means the thickness of the jewelry. The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the jewelry. The APP says that jewelry no greater than 14 gauge should be used below the neck. This is because of the risk of a foreign body reaction and the possibility of the ring cutting the skin.

And umm...I'm not even sure if they mean that the APP thinks they should have smaller than 14g or larger than 14g. *Because...gauges are just way too screwed up to use words like "greater".

Then again, it's written by a nurse and a couple of doctors. *So lets guess how much they know about piercing...

But, sebum is a collection of dead skin cells and oils that the body secretes.....

sebum is primarily oil from sebacious glands. *any dead skin cells in it are because they got stuck.

(my dog has several sebacious cysts...I have to apply pressure to remove the sebum from them regularly...and there's no dead skin cells in them, because the sebum isn't on the surface where it could get skin cells in it)

Although not entirely accurate, I have always used the term to describe the general "ick" that collects in/around piercings. Guess I need to get a clue too....

Well, it does do that (more than necessary, imo!), but it's also the oil that covers your skin and scalp. *the reason hair dyes want you to have "clean, unwashed hair" is so that your scalp has produced sebum to cover it and protect itself from the dye.
