I got my nape pierced on Friday with a surface bar. It was ok up until Sunday when it started hurting. As of yesterday it has been killing me on the one side. It also seems more swollen on that side. I have other piercings so i am experienced with them. I've been doing sea salt soaks and warm compresses but it really hurts. Theres no redness or pus. Is this normal?

Am I correct in understanding that you received the piercing less than a week ago? Did you roll/sleep on the side that hurts and possibly the pressure caused the bar to move slightly, making it painful?

Instead of wet compresses and sss, try a dry heat compress and see if that helps the swelling go down and the pain to subside.

maybe this could have been the reason.

I have had my nape done a couple of days ago, and apart from slight redness it is fine, except it is slightly lopsided. Will this go down once the slight swelling goes down as it is definitely straight when it was done. Also, when it was done she put in a straight bar, would it be better with one that was slightly bent as it is obviously on a slightly curved surface???

I was warned that there is a possibility of migration, and that in general surface piercings tend to grow through after a while, is this correct, and in someones opinion who has a surface piecing, how long did it last as I was talking to the girl who works in the shop and she had her wrist done, and it only lasted a month. If this is the case is there anything that will help it to last longer???? It cost a fair bit, so if it only lasted a month I would not be a happy little pierced person!!!!!
