I just pierced my tongue, was my first piercing. Don't really know where to begin so I just have a few simple questions.
Difference between Titanium / Steel?
Bar and Ball size I should step down to after the swelling goes down?
Whats the difference Internally / Externally threaded?
Any other information that you wish you had known when you had your piercing, but never asked for?
Thanks very much in advance!

I know a few are "personal preferance" type questions, but that I will be able to decide better later. I guess I'm asking for "starting" reccomendations really. I will just be needing a barbell for when the swelling goes down, and I'd like to pick it out ahead of time online.

Difference between Titanium / Steel?
Titanium is lighter, and also doesn't carry the risk of an allergic reaction, which some prople can have to steel, due to Nickle. Also, some people prefer titanium because stell causes the piercing to migrate in them....that's all dependent on the person, though. There is a price difference, but overall, titanium is usually much more highly recommended than steel.
I'm saying 'steel', but I mean 'Surgical Stainless Steel', the only type that you should wear in a piercing. *

What feels comfortable for you, and what works with your body type. See your piercer for this one. *
Whats the difference Internally / Externally threaded?
When you take the ball of the end of the jewelry, and the bar of the jewelry has the threading on it, and the ball screws onto it, then it's externall threaded. Internally threaded is when the ball screws INTO the barbell...the ball has a little stem with threads on it.
Big difference? Internally is MUCH less painful to use for alot of people.

I knew what I needed to know, basically.
Do you know your aftercare and all that jazz?

Yea I got the aftercare down and all that. I just needed to know for the barbell I'll be picking out (I don't know of any places to go look around here, plus Painfulpleasures has an awesome selection). Just wanted to get the little things cleared up.
Thanks a ton.

Go and consult with you rpiercer what size barbell they think you'll need when swelling goes down, then you can come back and buy one here! *:)
