I was wondering how long a back corset piercing can last if there are no tears and is there a way to prevent migration?

For a corset piercing to be permanent, there are several factors-

It must be pierced with surface bars. *It will take a lot of work, a lot of patience, and a lot of luck to heal these. *It may take several attempts to heal these piercings. * Then, once they are fully healed, one of the ends of the surface bar can be changed to a slave ring (a cbr that screws onto the barbell) in order to hold the ribbons to make your "corset".

The piercings MUST be done with surface bars, and they'll need to be done by a very experienced, tallented professional piercer. *You'll not be able to sleep on your back if you want to heal these piercings, as it could create much too much pressure on the piercings themselves.

I'm a fan of corset piercings, I love having them, but I know it would be incredibly difficult to heal it, even with proper jewelry. *If surface barbells aren't used, there is absolutely NO chance that it will heal without rejecting.

I wish you the best of luck if you decide to attempt this!

I'm a bit curious how you would keep the piercings clean yourself. If you have another person do it for you, that's ideal. But what if you don't have someone everyday to help soak/clean them? Being on the back would make it quite difficult.

Bathtubs would allow you to do sea salt soaks for your whole body, but you'd have to be clean before you got in it...

That makes sense. A gentle shower would be good for after the soak, too.

Yep, but it would be practically impossible to wash your back in the shower, with a washcloth or anything...and it would be pretty well impossible to wash the piercings with soap, too...

Thank you to everyone who replied with information or advice. At this time I don't think it would be feasible for me to get a corset piercing because I don't have the time to take care of it and have no one to "wash my back" as would be needed. I would also like to say that I'm really enjoying the website. I've been interested in piercing/body modification for years and I've gotten so much more information here than I have anywhere else. I'm going to refer some of my friends.

trihumanish, I feel the same way about this site. I love it, none of the stupid message board drama you find most places. If there is a problem the wonderful moderators are right on it. It's like a virtual home :)

You could let soap run down your back and lightly rinse a few times, but that's not a 'good washing'.

I agree with the virtual home statement. This is the only forum that I have actually stuck to for more than a couple months. It's never ending learning! and always interesting!

Kap- That wouldn't do it. *That wouldn't wash your back, and it definitely wouldn't get the piercings clean.

Aww, you guys are so great, I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy now. :)

You could soak in the warm sea salt bath, and sort of swish, but that's the best a person could do alone.

AWWW! *hugs everyone*

have a 5 rowed corset on my lower back. Its been 7 weeks and there healing incrediably well. I have monfiliment line in my back to allow for movement and a better healing time. I have to say I am able to sleep on my back as well and do everything I have always done. I have had no issue with them at all and still dont. In fact im concidering doing the entire lenght of my spine. I have been using love my piercing and wash them with dial soap while in the shower. A soft back brush works great esp when there itching. i have to say this is my absolute favorite piercing. But I have to agree that finding a highly trained and taleneted piercer makes the difference. My piercer checks them every week for signs of rejection and infection. We shorten the monofiliment when needed. I diffently dont want to to catch them on anything. I will add the metal when it is compleletly healed and not before. Good luck.

Thank you very much for your reply to my post. That information you gave was very helpful in my decision on whether or not to get a corset piercing on my back. I've decided to eventually have it done after finding a piercer that I'd trust to do that and talk to him/her about the technique you and *your piercer are using. I'm not sure I'll have it done without the metal, but it's certainly something to consider. Is your corset piercing photo posted on this site? Let me know so I can check it out. Thanks again.

Gothik - Please note that even once it's healed with the monofilament, changing it over to surface barbells or "metal" *will stress the piercing and could prompt rejection/migration.

I usually only go around approving the photos once every two or three days, since there's not a TON being uploaded. Please be patient, I'll get to it within a few days of your posting.
