Ok. So, I've been taking a peek around the Internet (yummy internet!), and have really been taken by the idea of implants.

Awhile ago, Ria and I did play piercings, and she put CBRs in my ar, down the side. I adored the look of it, and the feel of it.
Something else....when we pierced the area around my sternum, I adored that. There's something about the feeling of having not only something IN the skin, but something UNDER then skin that is appealing to me.

I'm not sure if this is something that I will be able to pursue, but I think I'd like to give it a go. I doubt I'd be able to keep it permanently, unless it was in a relatively hidden area.

So, what I'm looking for is this....suggestions on locations, and suggestions on what I should use....I'm leaning towards beads, but a CBR is not out of the question.

Thoughts?

That would be a very neat look. But I'm not completley sure what look your going for, do you have any pictures?

Where do you want them, what do you want under the skin? *DETAILS girly, give me details!

*laughs*

I'm thinking that I'd actually like them where my sternum piercing was at. I LOVE that locale for something....and I think implants would be easier to do and KEEP than would a surface piercing.

As for WHAT....I dunno. I'm open to suggestions.

Though I've only had 2 piercings, I love the idea of body mods, and I'd have dozens if it wouldn't interfere with school or work or family (which mine currently do already, lol), so I instead spend tons of time talking to people and researching on trends and new and weird body mods. I'm weird like that. I guess since I'm pre-med, I'm just attracted to anything having to do with cutting flesh. Yum.

Anyway, from what I've been able to read over and over again, surface piercings, if done surgically and correctly, tend to go pretty well with the proper procedure and jewelry - probably with a much higher success rate than most surface piercings. The thing is, it's obviously more of a surgical procedure than a piercing, and is thus a much bigger deal to get an implant inside of you (or out of you), but I'm sure you can keep it as long as you want after healing.

Anyway, since the procedure is rarer, you'd probably have to do quite a bit of asking around and research to see who does this kind of stuff. I guess you have to take the same precautions as any piercing (choosing the right person for the job, the right materials, right aftercare), except even more seriously. But you probably already knew that. I feel the sternum would be a perfectly good spot for one, especially since people love to do implants on their foreheads and forearms and I met a guy who did a ring implant around his finger - places where any normal piercing would reject in a flash.

I guess you just need to come up with the dough for designing the jewerlry if you want something elaborate like a heart or a bar or CBR, or I'm sure beads would be cheaper. Either way, I'm betting it's a lot of money, but totally do-able. From what I've seen, you play-pierce and are working on a scarification, so I'm pretty sure you're up to this. Good luck on your search, and if you decide to do it, I'm sure it'd totally kick!

A heart? *on Bird? *hehehe. *That's just funny. *

Little *too* girly, that.

As for finding someone to do it, that's why she's got me.

I have seen a lot of pics of sternum implants, Bird, so next time you're at my house or I'm at yours, I can show you some, you can see what you think.

Personally, I think they'd be hot down the arm where we did our piercings...if you don't go for that locale, I might.

Well, girly, you kinda gotta figure out *what* it is that you want, before we can really get too far into it. *As long as it's nothing too extravagant, there's no reason why I wouldn't be able to do it for you.

That wouldn't be too hard. *Just a scalpel and hemostats to open up a little skin pocket. *We'd have to get the hemostats autoclaved for this, though... (wonder if Beau would autoclave for us?)

You know what I'd LOVE? Ridges...like, a barbell implanted, or teflon 'ribs' on my sternum. I think that'd be great! :)

I really wish I COULD do them on my arm, but, alas, reality strikes again!

And, uh...yeh, Brooklyn. Ria's my girl for this sort of stuff:)

Hrm...all we gotta do is get whatever it is that you want, and get the hemostats autoclaved.

Now. Where to find what I want.....

Good luck...I've got not a clue how to help you with that one. *

We could just do a series of balls, it would go up/down/up/down/up/down...

I've got a few places in mind.

Either way, I'll have to find implant-grade stuff, so it's not going to be the quickest project we've ever done....

Thanks!

I'm still looking for any places that sell the type of teflon beads that I'm searching for. This could be quite some time in the making.

Well Bird, if'n y'all can find someone who will perform this, I'm game too. This is one of those things that folks in Amerika freak about. Most states have laws prohibiting it. But what a friend and you do in the privacy of your own home is, well, nobody's business. The "system" seems to think that they can reach into your home and tell you what you can and cannot do but hey, between friends??? I'm not gonna tell, are you? I already posted my thoughts on my desire for pearls under the skin of "you know where". I have yet to find a Med Student who might give it a go for me. There isn't a Med School nearby. *I'm too big a chicken to do it myself. (Sounds kinda funny since all of my piercings are DIY)

I've read some rather detailed articles and websites on how they go about doing this. If you want I could try finding them again. I don't really know many med students and definitely very few in FL. I know some pre-med folk, but they're hear and I'm not sure where they're going for med school and if they'd be really willing or anything...
