Web removal?

I think I remember hearing about this somewhere, so I came here to get things straight. Anyway, I had heard that by having your web cut out (you know, the flap of skin beneath your tounge) that you can actually make your tongue longer. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

The web is basically what holds your tongue in place, I assume this is true from natural experiences...I have a long web and a short tongue, my friend Alyssa was born with no web, and has a freakishly long tongue.

Honestly, there are a lot of sources for BOTH sides. *I've heard both sides all my life. *"yes it does" and "no it doesn't" but I have no actuall *proof* for either side.

I mean, let me say this...
It doesn't make your tongue any longer than it already is, it does to some degree affect how far out you can stick your tongue though.

Bird, is your tongue web smaller than mine? (cuz she has a FREAKISHLY long tongue)

I don't think anything could actualy change the length of your tongue....besides some weird implant....hmmm tongue implants.....

Ok. Oddly enough, I've actually researched this (I was bored, all right?).

The tongue frenum (the web) can really only limit the length that the tongue can move out of the mouth, and in extreme cases, limit the movement side-to-side. By removing or cutting the frenum, you can get your tongue to go out of your mouth a bit further, but there's really nothing that you can do to TRUELY lengthen your tongue...just the length of it's extension past your lips.

Ria, my frenum is TEENY, and yes, is quite smaller than yours. For reference, all, my frenum in NO way could be pierced comfortably...there's nothing there to grab on to. Also, I can basically touch the bottom of my own chin with my tongue.

I also have very little frenum....and can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue...

Yeah, there's a big difference in touching your nose with your tongue, and being able to touch the BOTTOM of your chin with it....

Oddly, I can touch the bottom of my chin *with my tongue but cannot touch my nose...

Oh! *Fact or fiction: does piercing your tongue lengthen it? *I've heard things about how pulling it out for the piercing makes it longer, or the jewelry does, or something. *Now that I think about it sounds ridiculous... but does it?

It might push it out just a teeny bit (the whole added volume thing), but no more than a millimeter or two.
