i've had my conch pierced for about 3 weeks down. the swelling has gone down significantly and pain has reduced, but the redness doesn't seem to be going away. i thought it was completely normal until tonight, when i took a picture of the back of my ear. it is VERY red and it is concerning me. it's not painful or sore to the touch so i don't know what's going on. i've had occasional crusties but there hasn't been any oozing or pus. so it doesn't seem like an infection. but i don't know, i need more opinions and some help.
btw; i've been sea salt soaking at least once a day and cleaning with the anti bacterial soap my piercer suggested.

To keep out unwanted spam messages, all new members must have their first 3 messages approved (vetted) by the moderators before they can post freely.

The forum has undergone some recent changes. Many were for the good, but it also introduced a bug. When an unvetted member posts to an existing discussion, it does not show up as other posts do. If a fully vetted member posts, the section they post in is highlighted and the thread list has a green dot next to the thread they post in. Also if you click on "new posts" it will show up in the list. Unvetted members do not show at all. The only time an unvetted members post show is if they create a new thread and even then it's not very easy to find. PP is working on getting this fixed, but it may take some time.

If you post to the forum for help and you don't get a reply you are not being ignored. Please send a private message and include a thread link.

Antibacterial soaps are a bad idea. Here is some information at to why.

The soap could very well be the source of the redness. When showering it is probably not possible to keep all soap from splashing into the area. If it should, that wouldn't be the end of the world. Just don't apply it directly to the piercing and be sure to thoroughly rinse the area thoroughly at the end. I had a problem with my PA due to antibacterial soap. Everything was fine after I switched soap and was more careful on how I washed.

Having the correct mix ratio for salt is also important. The mix needs to be 1/4 tsp to 1 cup water. More is not better.

Let us know how you make out.
