Dryness and red bump?

    Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this red, dry bump is supposed to be?

I've had my piercing for 6 months now and the bump appeared maybe 2 weeks ago. It's not painful but there is quite a bit of white/yellowish stuff coming out (it also smells a little bit). Through the day it "swells up" a little bit, becoming more raised and darker and doesn't go back down until I take a shower. The bump seems to be like "hard skin" so I wonder if it's possibly migration? Or maybe the bar is a bit too short?

I can't visit my piercer until the end of the month because of financial reasons, so I thought I post here just to see what you guys have to say.

    Some additional questions:
I'm buying SSS (0,9) from the pharmacy, should I warm it up or just use it as it is? How often should I use it? 1-2 times per day?
Would it be possible now to change my piercing? Despite having that bump?
Any way to make the dryness go away?
    Thanks :)

To keep out unwanted spam messages, all new members must have their first 3 messages approved (vetted) by the moderators before they can post freely.

The forum has undergone some recent changes. Many were for the good, but it also introduced a bug. When an unvetted member posts to an existing discussion, it does not show up as other posts do. If a fully vetted member posts, the section they post in is highlighted and the thread list has a green dot next to the thread they post in. Also if you click on "new posts" it will show up in the list. Unvetted members do not show at all. The only time an unvetted members post show is if they create a new thread and even then it's not very easy to find. PP is working on getting this fixed, but it may take some time.

If you post to the forum for help and you don't get a reply you are not being ignored. Please send a private message and include a thread link.

Typically when someone is having issues with a navel piercing it is for a bar being too short. In your case it isn't (hurray).

The white stuff is likely sebum from your sebaceous glands.

At 6 months it doesn't look like you are quite fully healed yet. I would make sure you continue with aftercare and SSS. Other than that, it really doesn't look that bad. You can add some tea tree oil to your SSS as a moisturizer during the dry months.
