I got my belly pierced a week ago. Two days ago, I noticed my top bar under it started to get a bit red. I can see red around it. I also noticed two little unoticeable bumps on each side of it too. But it seems like one of them left, but I can still notice a little bump on the other side. I usually take a shower everyday, clean it while I am in there with Dr.Bonners liquid soap. After I am finished, I pat it down with a paper towel and clean it around with a q-tip. After that, I wait a few minutes, then I do a sea salt soak. Then I spray h2o on it. Lastly ,at night I just wash it again with Dr.Bonners soap and clean it with a q-tip and spray H2o once again.

Welcome to the Painful Pleasures (PP) community! Please take a moment to tell us a bit more about yourself in the Introduce Yourself area. Also, please read the Rules of the Forum at your convenience.

To keep out unwanted spam messages, all new members must have their first 3 messages approved (vetted) by the moderators before they can post freely.

The forum has undergone some recent changes. Many were for the good, but it also introduced a bug. When an unvetted member posts to an existing discussion, it does not show up as other posts do. If a fully vetted member posts, the section they post in is highlighted and the thread list has a green dot next to the thread they post in. Also if you click on "new posts" it will show up in the list. Unvetted members do not show at all. The only time an unvetted members post show is if they create a new thread and even then it's not very easy to find. PP is working on getting this fixed, but it may take some time.

If you post to the forum for help and you don't get a reply you are not being ignored. Please send a private message and include a thread link.

Your care sounds alright. In general we discourage applying soaps directly to your piercing. If it is not fully rinsed you will have soap in direct all day contact with raw flesh. If the soap isn't mild and additive free (like antibacterial or scent) you could react adversely.

The pictures don't seem like there is anything particularly glaring going on. There doesn't seem to be any obvious amounts of bare bar showing which can be signs of a problem. If you start to see and indent or the ball starts sinking into the flesh you have a real problem. To fix this you would need a longer bar. If nothing gets/has gotten worse I would continue with your aftercare and watch it carefully.

Let us know how you make out.
